It is vitally important when starting a new assignment that both parties have an understanding of what is being entered into. Clients and illustrators tend to interpret Standard Industry Practices in quite different ways, which is why fundamentals such as pricing, usage, and what happens if something goes wrong are discussed as early as possible.
