Mōillo, bending reality within the lines of cardboard.

Mōillo is a freelance illustrator based in Napier, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand.

Mōillo's work is drawn directly on cardboard. His style is bold, direct, real and a little rough around the edges. The cardboard texture is the base colour with black marker pens being the structural architecture. Then a minimal palette of spot marker colours is applied, and sometimes a hint of charcoal. The image is subsequently amended and adjusted in Adobe Photoshop. He always retains the fresh and raw aesthetic as he loves textures and original marks made in the moment. Mōillo always uses recycled cardboard boxes found lying around, and he likes to think outside the box too?!
