Tammy Jade Shirley

Tammy Jade Shirley is an Australian illustrator and artist whose work is inspired by nature, animals, storytelling and the quiet magic found in everyday life.

Working primarily in watercolour, graphite and mixed media, Tammy creates whimsical illustrations that combine expressive characters, botanical detail and a strong sense of place. Her work often explores themes of imagination, connection, slowing down and finding wonder in the natural world.

Tammy is the creator and illustrator of Just Imagine, a meditative storybook celebrating creativity and the freedom to simply explore, and The Chronicles of Whispering Hollow, an illustrated story series set within a magical Australian-inspired world of woodland creatures, mushrooms, wildflowers and hidden places.

Alongside her illustrated books and storytelling projects, Tammy creates original artwork, animal portraits and nature-inspired illustrations. Her approach is intuitive and observational, allowing the personality of a subject and the atmosphere of a story to guide the finished work. Based in regional Queensland, Tammy draws much of her inspiration from the Australian landscape and the animals, plants and stories that surround her. She is particularly interested in illustration that invites the viewer to pause, look closer and imagine what might exist just beyond the page.
