Mike Angliss is an illustrator and stencil artist, working under the pseudonym 'anghi'.
I'm sure you'll notice, firstly, that his work varies greatly. With skill sets in stencil work, ink illustration and digital painting, his ability to create an image continues to grow and develop. But beyond the skill set is the idea. THE IDEA IS KING. Mike revels in the concept stage and loves to tell a story with one image, seeing things from new perspectives with greater depth. His love of patterns is ever-present, but its his new found love of digital painting and finishing that has heavily influenced his latest work, and continues to do so as he builds his portfolio.
Mike's varied range in style and concept is a result of his love of different artists from around the world. He is inspired by a range of influences, such as Wayne White’s word paintings, Howard Arkley’s suburbia, INSA’s patterns and Brendan Monroe’s terrain, as well as the ever growing large scale works of the POW! WOW! group.
Mike completed a Diploma of Visual Arts - Illustration at Melbourne Polytechnic (formerly NMIT) in 2015 with high accolades, including being awarded 'best body of work' and 'best concept design' by industry judges at the graduate exhibition.
