Felicity Marshall

I grew up in Western Australia and have also travelled and lived in USA, Canada, UK and France. I studied Fine Arts majoring in painting and have also done further studies in photography. I also studied and performed classical ballet, character dancing and children’s pantomime. My working life has been as a production assistant in the film industry, a teacher and a children’s author and illustrator. I paint portrait commissions and regularly hold exhibitions of my paintings, drawings and watercolours, and my work is in private collections both in Australia and overseas. Children’s books are my great love and I always have at least one on the go and several on the back burner - so to speak. Hanging out for a children’s book that has dancers in it - pass the word around!

My illustrations are in watercolour, gouache, pencil and coloured pencil. I also occasionally work in scraper board or pen and ink.

All my paintings are in oils on linen. My next picture book may well be a series of oil paintings.

I have two adult children who are my most loyal supporters and my most honest critics. My other passions are the beach, nature in all her forms, food and nutrition, Tai Chi Chuan, live theatre, music, gardening, and a world of weird stuff that inspires me. Having had many pets from dogs to chooks to guinea pigs, I now have two pet hermit crabs called Vasco and Einstein. They are very low key. I do miss going for dog walks, however…
